Dr. Jonathan "John" Smith Joined the faculty in 2018 after completing a General Adult Psychiatry Residency and Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry Fellowship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He serves as the Executive Medical Director for the Behavioral Health PCC, Medical Director for the Vanderbilt University Hospital Psychiatry Services, and Program Director for the Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry Fellowship. 

Dr. Smith's clinical focus is emergency psychiatry and consultation-liaison psychiatry, which is the psychiatric subspecialty focused on the evaluation and management of patients with medical illness who are experiencing behavioral health problems. He works collaboratively with medical specialties throughout the medical center including emergency medicine, internal medicine, neurology, critical care, burn and trauma, oncology, obstetrics and gynecology, and surgery to ensure patients received effective and compassionate care for both medical and behavioral problems.
