Julie Kate Barnes is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who joined Division of Addiction Psychiatry in July 2026. She received her Bachelor and Master of Social Work at the University of Tennessee with a concentration of Evidenced-based Interpersonal Practice.

Prior to joining Vanderbilt Addiction Psychiatry Division, she worked with various nonprofits in Metro Nashville. She has proficiency working with interdisciplinary teams in community health with a focus on providing low barrier access to MOUD (Medications for Opioid Use Disorder). She has worked in Partial hospitalization, Intensive Outpatient, and Detoxification. In those roles she has served in leadership, individual counseling, and as a group facilitator. She has also served as a primary grant writer and Co-Author to secure funding through the Tennessee Opioid Abatement Council.
