Gotham published in Journal of Neurodevelopmental Disorders

Katherine Gotham, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, was published recently in two peer-mediated journals. First, "The autism symptom interview, school‐age: A brief telephone interview to identify autism spectrum disorders in 5‐to‐12‐year‐old children" has been published in the journal Autism Research.This study reports on the initial validation of the Autism Symptom Interview (ASI), School-Age, a brief (15-20 min) phone interview intended to be  administered to parents by interviewers with minimal training in order to more quickly ascertain or classify children with ASD for research or clinical triaging purposes.

Next, Gotham also served as co-author of the article "Cumulative life events, traumatic experiences, and psychiatric symptomatology in transition-aged youth with autism spectrum disorder," published in the Journal of Neurodevelopmental Disorders. This study of transition-aged youth with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) suggests that contextual factors such as trauma may be relevant to the development of comorbid mood pathology in individuals with ASD.
