Kara Stencel is a certified Physician Assistant with the Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation. She obtained her Masters of Medical Science at the Yale Physician Associate Program at the same time she obtained a Masters in Public Health with a Health Policy specialization from the Yale School of Public Health.

She completed a Post Graduate Training Program in Emergency Medicine with MedStar Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC, and earned her Emergency Medicine Certificate of Added Qualifications (EM-CAQ) during her over four years there working in an urban emergency department. She continued to add to her skill set by joining the Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) Gastrointestinal/Minimally Invasive General Surgery outpatient team in 2021. Today she works in the subspeciality of Cancer Rehabilitation, specifically focusing on enhancing quality of life for breast and head and neck cancer survivors.

She has a Bachelor of Science from the University of Dayton.

She is an active member of the AAPA, on the Board of Directors for the Tennessee Academy of PAs and a member of the VUMC Advanced Practice Provider Professional Development Committee.
