Morgan McCord, MD

PGY-1 Resident

Hometown: Indianapolis, Ind.
Undergraduate Education: DePauw University
Medical School: University of Colorado School of Medicine

I grew up in Indianapolis and stayed close to home for college at DePauw University. During my gap years, I moved to Denver and was fortunate to attend the University of Colorado for medical school. My favorite movie of all time is The Wedding Singer. My favorite place in the world is Crested Butte, I drive a 1996 Chevy Blazer named Joann, and my husband, Charlie, is known for his Sunday night ribs. Vanderbilt felt like the right fit because of its people. The kindness and support I experienced during the interview process have been exactly what I have found since starting residency. On my first overnight call shift, I was incredibly nervous and happened to run into an upper-level anesthesia resident in the PACU. They immediately reassured me that they would also be there overnight and encouraged me to call or text with anything I needed. That interaction perfectly captures the culture here, and I’m grateful to be training alongside people who look out for one another.
