Matthew (Blake) Dwyer, MD

Growing up in the Texas Hill Country sparked my love for the outdoors and eventually led me to Texas A&M before serving as a submarine officer in the U.S. Navy. After completing my military service, I returned to school to pursue medicine at the Burnett School of Medicine at TCU, and I'm excited to begin the next chapter at Vanderbilt. What drew me to Vanderbilt was the people. From the beginning, it felt like a place where residents genuinely enjoyed working together; faculty were invested in teaching, and everyone was eager to help each other grow. Outside the hospital, my favorite place to be is with my wife, Audrey, and our two boys. Whether it's snowboarding, scuba diving, hiking or simply spending time outdoors with family and friends, I'm happiest when I can enjoy nature and good company. We're excited to call Nashville home and explore everything Tennessee has to offer.
