Kalaivani Vadivel, M.D., M.I.S.
Kalaivani Vadivel, M.D.,M.I.S., is an Imaging Research Specialist I at the Vanderbilt University Institute of Imaging Science (VUIIS). She holds a Doctor of Medicine degree and a Master of Imaging Science from Vanderbilt University. Her work focuses on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) research, including imaging protocol development, quantitative image analysis, research participant coordination, and the evaluation of advanced imaging techniques. Her research interests include diffusion MRI, quantitative imaging biomarkers, medical image processing, and the application of advanced imaging methods to clinical research and disease characterization.
Ms. Vadivel is currently involved in MRI research under the supervision of Dr. Xiaoyu Jiang at VUIIS, focusing on the development and evaluation of quantitative MRI techniques for characterizing tissue microstructure. Her research includes diffusion MRI and MR cytometry approaches, with an emphasis on optimizing imaging acquisition parameters, quantitative model fitting, and assessing measurement accuracy and repeatability. She also supports human MRI research studies through participant coordination, imaging protocol implementation, and research data analysis.
