Vanderbilt Health Regional Hospitals & Clinics (VHRHC) Clinical Orientation

The orientation process is a blended learning experience that includes online, in-person sessions, and precepted shifts.  All new licensed and non-licensed clinical staff who have patient care responsibilities will have assignments to complete.  All clinical staff will have modules assigned to them through the Learning Exchange to be completed prior to the end of your orientation period. For general concerns or questions contact the Regional Education team at RegionalEducation@vumc.org.

Clinical Orientation

Your clinical orientation consists of your first week of orientation (Part 1), followed by (Part 2) precepted onboarding in your department with a dedicated preceptor.  Clinical Orientation is completed by both licensed staff [nurses, paramedics.] and non-licensed staff [Patient Care Techs, Nurse Assistants.]. If you are in a role other than those listed, you will receive an email with instructions about which portion of Clinical Orientation to attend.

Part 1:

Part 1 of the orientation process includes your Clinical Orientation in the first week and the assignment of learning modules. Clinical Orientation consists of a virtual component and an in-person portion that will include skills demonstration with a member of the Education Team. Clinical Orientation is the review and validation of skills and competencies for your new role. Clinical Orientation is completed by both licensed staff [nurses, paramedics.] and non-licensed staff [Patient Care Techs, Nurse Assistants.].

Part 2:

The second part of your orientation is precepted shifts in your department with a dedicated member of the healthcare team.
