Administrative Core

Mission of the Administrative Core

To achieve the Aims of the Tennessee CFAR requires an innovative, flexible, and engaged Administrative Core. The Administrative Core adds value to and enhances the significance of HIV/AIDS research at our partnered institutions by providing leadership and resources for collaborations that impact the field. The work of the AC is grounded in transparent communication, maximizing value-added through efficient use of financial and human resources, and commitment to serving the needs of HIV researchers across our diverse institutions. The Administrative Core is the “operating system” of the Tennessee CFAR, overseeing resources and creating a collaborative environment for Tennessee CFAR users through Cores and Scientific Working Groups (SWGs), respectively.

Specific Aims of the Administrative Core

1. To provide leadership, management, coordination, and supervision of Tennessee CFAR activities.

- Monitor progress toward achieving overall Tennessee CFAR and individual Core Aims.

- Provide responsible and efficient operational and financial management.

- Coordinate with existing institutional core resources to maximize administrative, financial, and scholarly efficiency.

2. To enhance the productivity of Vanderbilt University (VU), Meharry Medical College (MMC), and the Tennessee Department of Health (TDH) in HIV/AIDS research by supporting and coordinating trans-disciplinary collaborations.

- Foster new collaborations among existing HIV/AIDS investigators, junior investigators, and established investigators not yet engaged in HIV/AIDS research.

- Develop and grow community-engaged research (CEnR) through a panel of experts available for consultation, and coordination with institutional CEnR resources.

- Identify and support new and existing CFAR-to-CFAR, international, and industry collaborations.

3. To facilitate effective bi-directional communication about HIV/AIDS-related research resources and advances.

- Support and coordinate monthly trans-disciplinary Tennessee CFAR symposia.
