The Adult Perioperative (as part of the Adult Critical Care Track) is geared toward new nurses who seek to specialize in adult perioperative care nursing. The program (as part of the Perioperative Internship) is designed to nurture the new graduate nurse in the transition from student to professional nurse. It provides new nurses with the specific tools and experiences needed to begin a successful career in a variety of adult OR settings. After orientation to VUMC, you will experience a focused orientation in your department and work with OR-based preceptors. Placement to a specific OR specialty will occur after your initial 12-week orientation.
