Established in 2006, the Junior Faculty Leadership Development Program (JFLDP) is a cohort based leadership program that provides training to newly hired faculty members conducting bench research at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine (VUSM). Each year, 12-14 participants are nominated by the VUSM Department Chairs and are selected by the JFLDP Steering Committee for inclusion in the cohort. Particular effort is made to ensure diversity within each cohort, with approximately half being women and 25 percent being from underrepresented minorities during the course of the program. Approximately 150 faculty members have completed the program during its 11 year history.
