The Department of Plastic Surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center is offering a comprehensive, Pediatric and Adult Craniofacial Fellowship, outside the San Francisco match, to begin July 2020. Applicants must be committed to the VUMC mission of reflecting the diversity of the populations we serve in our teams, programs and communications. A diverse workforce is essential to crafting innovative solutions and reflecting a culture of inclusivity. The Applicant must also have completed or will complete an accredited plastic surgery training program.
The cleft and craniofacial program at Vanderbilt was founded by past ASMS president, and for the past 30 years has maintained a high-volume of cases spanning the breadth of cleft and craniofacial surgery.
The fellowship is non-ACGME and offers the fellow extensive training in five distinct areas for a robust training in craniofacial surgery.
The fellow will also have the opportunity to become comfortable in microsurgical reconstruction of the head/ neck, congenital hand surgery, facial re-animation and perioperative management of the transgender and facial cosmetic patient. We offer a high-volume program with core faculty in each specific area of expertise.
The fellow will have a high level of graduated-autonomy and function as an instructor for adult trauma and reconstructive cases. The fellow will be an integral part of the multidisciplinary cleft and craniofacial team and by the end of the fellowship will have the skill set to assemble and run a team of their own. Scholarly activity is welcome and to that end, a full-time research coordinator also complements the team to help the fellow engage in a project of their choosing. The fellow will also be welcome to join on any international humanitarian trip that faculty attends during their year of training.
The fellow will enjoy generous benefits and compensation commensurate with PGY year. Moonlighting opportunities as a clinical instructor in plastic surgery are available. If you are interested, please email your CV and brief letter of interest to firstname.lastname@example.org.
