Sophea Chan, PharmD, MPH
PGY2 Infectious Diseases
Sophea Chan, MPH, PharmD, is a Cambodian pharmacist and David J. Sencer Scholar for Epidemic Intelligence Service. She is completing her PGY2 pharmacy residency in infectious diseases. She began her professional career in 2011 as a pharmacist at a community pharmacy and volunteered at clinical laboratories in Cambodia. She has been on multiple humanitarian missions. While in Cambodia, she encountered widespread overuse of antimicrobial medications, which led to antimicrobial resistance (AMR). Wanting to make a greater impact as a pharmacist, she obtained her MPH from Western Kentucky University and her PharmD from Mercer University College of Pharmacy in the USA. She completed her PGY1 Pharmacy residency at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, Georgia. Dr. Chan is passionate about invasive candidiasis, AMR, antimicrobial stewardship, and public health. In her free time, she enjoys cycling, hiking, reading, and spending time with family and friends.
