Lindsay Adams, PharmD
Director, Compliance and Process Improvement

Lindsay holds a B.S. degree from Belmont University and a Pharm.D. from the Medical University of South Carolina.  She completed an ASHP accredited residency at the University of Tennessee Medical Center.  Following residency, Lindsay accepted her first position at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and has served in various staff, clinical and management roles during her tenure.  In her current role, she is responsible for compliance with regulatory standards as well as the review and development of medication related policy per best practice guidelines.

Lindsay’s practice interests include pharmacy management, regulatory compliance, medication safety, medication use policy, staff education and quality improvement.

Lindsay precepts the compliance administration experience.

 

Terry Bosen, PharmD, CPPS
Program Director, Medication Safety

Terry holds a Pharm.D from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.  She completed an ASHP accredited residency in pharmacy practice at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, Mississippi.  She later worked at UCLA Medical Center as the Supervisor of Surgical Satellites in Los Angeles, California.  Dr. Bosen transitioned to Vanderbilt in 2006 working initially as a staff pharmacist in VUH and then as VUH Satellite Pharmacy Supervisor before moving to her current position in 2014. 

Terry’s practice interests include implementing high leverage strategies for error prevention, optimizing smart pump libraries and facilitating multidisciplinary workgroups.

Terry precepts the medication safety program experience.

 

Andrea Bryant, PharmD, MBA, MHA
Vice President,  Business Operations

Andrea holds a BS Pharmacy from the University of Missouri, Kansas City and PharmD from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.  She completed her business training with a Master of Business Administration in Management from the University of Memphis.

She also completed a Master of Health Administration from Ohio University. Andrea has served in various staff, clinical and management roles during her career in health system pharmacy practice.

Her practice interests include budgeting, revenue cycle, procurement/inventory control, compliance, human resources, data analytics, diversion prevention, medication access, and 340B.

Andrea precepts the business management rotation experience.

 

Rusty Catlin, PharmD, MMHC
Executive Director, Retail Pharmacy Operations

Rusty attended Austin Peay State University for pre-pharmacy studies, obtained his Pharm.D from the McWhorter School of Pharmacy at Samford University, and completed his MMHC at the Owen Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt University.

Rusty has served in pharmacist leadership roles at various retail pharmacy locations and has led efforts to build discharge pharmacy services and embed pharmacists in clinics serving chronic disease states.

His practice interests include retail pharmacy services, expansion of pharmacist’s clinical roles in ambulatory practice, informatics, compliance, logistics and pharmacy infrastructure.

Rusty precepts the procurement and enterprise operations support experience. 

 

Garrett Crothers PharmD, MBA, BCPS
Director, Pharmacy Revenue Cycle

Garrett holds both a BS degree and a Pharm.D. from Lipscomb University. He completed a PGY1/PGY2 Health System Pharmacy Administration and Leadership (HSPAL) residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) while also completing an MBA at Lipscomb University. Upon completing his residency, Garrett transitioned into the role of Program Director of Special Projects at VUMC, supporting a variety of business functions with a focus on project management. In his current role, Garrett leads initiatives that support billing and revenue cycle related functions in the hospital, clinic, specialty and retail areas.

Garrett’s practice interests include revenue cycle, quality/process improvement, analytics, and project management.

Garrett precepts the longitudinal finance rotation.

 

Deidra Dickerson, Pharm.D, MMHC, BCSCP, ACC 
Manager, Sterile and Nonsterile Compounding

Deidra holds a B.S. from Vanderbilt University and Pharm.D. from the University of Tennessee.  She completed a PGY1/PGY2 Health System Pharmacy Administration and Leadership (HSPAL) residency at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, TN.  Subsequently she worked at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, OH as a Pharmacy Operations Manager with oversight over 7 satellite pharmacies and automated dispensing cabinets.  She transitioned to VUH in 2018 as the Sterile and Non-Sterile Compounding Manager.

Deidra’s practice interests include operations, career and leadership coaching, and strategic planning.

Deidra serves as a mentor and Co-Coordinator for the program and co-precepts the Inpatient Operations rotation experience.

 

Tara Kelley, PharmD, MMHC, CSP
Executive Director, Vanderbilt Specialty Pharmacy

Tara holds a BS degree from Middle Tennessee State University and a Pharm.D from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. She completed an ASHP accredited residency program at the University of Tennessee Medical Center and is a Certified Specialty Pharmacist. She completed the Master of Management in Health Care program at the Owen School of Business at Vanderbilt University in 2018.

Tara’s practice interests include specialty pharmacy management, medication access, advancing pharmacist and pharmacy technician practice, patient outcomes research and improvement in the delivery of care.

Tara precepts the specialty pharmacy rotation experience.

 

Molly Knostman, PharmD, MHA, CPEL
Executive Director, Adult Campus Pharmacy Services

Molly holds a BS in Pharmacy from Ohio Northern University and Pharm.D. from University of Colorado.  She completed the MHA degree from Simmons University.  Molly has worked in community pharmacy, long term care and hospital pharmacy in various staff, clinical and management roles during her career. She was recognized as a Vanderbilt Credo winner, a Vanderbilt Five Pillar Leader, and a Friend of Nursing award winner for her contributions to the enterprise.

Molly’s practice interests include pharmacy leadership, pharmacy technician training/advancement and technology and manager development.

Molly co-precepts Health System  pharmacy administration rotation experience.

Bob Lobo, PharmD, FCCP, BCPS
Director, Clinical Programs

Bob graduated from University of Nebraska College of Pharmacy and completed an ASHP-accredited pharmacy residency training program at the University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy in 1989. Following residency he accepted a position as a pharmacist at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, TN. At Methodist Bob helped to establish clinical pharmacy services to adult inpatient psychiatric, geriatric, neurologic, and internal medicine patients.  He also served on the faculty at the University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy and was a preceptor for students and residents, as well as a residency program director. Bob transitioned from clinical practice to a clinical leader role in 2006 and relocated to Nashville in 2008 where he currently serves as Director, Clinical Programs in the Department of Pharmaceutical Services at Vanderbilt. 

Bob’s practice interests include clinical program development, medication use policy, clinical decision support and oversight of educational programs for students, residents and staff.

Bob precepts the clinical program management rotation experience.

 

Erin Neal, PharmD, MMHC, BCPS
Director, Population Health Pharmacy Services

Erin is the Director of Population Health Pharmacy Services at Vanderbilt Health and the Vanderbilt Health Affiliated Network where she develops and implements programs to provide high quality care at a lower cost for 300,000 covered lives under management. She is also responsible for clinical pharmacy services provided for VUMC Primary Care and the Discharge Care Center.

Erin holds a BS degree from Sewanee-The University of the South, a PharmD from Auburn University, and a Masters in Healthcare Management from the Owen Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt University. Erin completed an ASHP accredited PGY1 Residency at Vanderbilt University Hospital and has held a number of staff, clinical and management positions with the department during her tenure.

Erin’s practice interests include comprehensive medication management, transitions of care, population health, value-based care, and process and quality improvement. Erin precepts an elective on population health and value-based care

Grayson K. Peek, PharmD, MS, BCPS
Sr. Director, Adult Clinic Pharmacy Operations
Residency Program Director, HSPAL program

Grayson completed a 2-year Health-System Pharmacy Administration and Leadership Residency at Duke University Hospital. He earned his PharmD from the University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy and a Master of Science in Health-System Pharmacy Administration from the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy.

He has served as a preceptor for multiple HSPAL pharmacy residents and as adjunct faculty within the MS Health-System Pharmacy Administration and Leadership program at the University of North Carolina (UNC) Eshelman School of Pharmacy. He enjoys active involvement with ASHP. His past participation includes serving as Chair of the ASHP-Section of Pharmacy Practice Leaders Advisory Group on Business Development and System Integration and as an ASHP-New Practitioners Forum Executive Committee member.

Grayson’s practice interests include ambulatory operations, 340B, revenue cycle and clinical program development. He serves as Residency Program Director for the HSPAL Residency Program and precepts the clinic operations rotation experience.

 

Ryan Schell, Pharm.D, MMHC, BCPS
Manager, Clinical Operations

Ryan holds a B.S degree from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and a PharmD from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  He then completed an ASHP-accredited PGY-1 residency at the Nashville, TN VAMC followed by an ASHP-accredited PGY-2 residency in Health-Systems Pharmacy Administration at the Charleston, SC VAMC.  Ryan joined Vanderbilt in 2017 as a clinical pharmacist, then transitioned to clinical leadership in 2018.  Ryan now leads the clinical pharmacists who cover the surgery, cardiology, and emergency department service lines.

Ryan’s practice and research interests include quality and process improvement, medication safety, and clinical program development. 

He precepts the Clinical Pharmacy Management and Front-Line Clinical Leadership rotation experiences.

 

Mark Sullivan, Pharm.D, MBA, BCPS, FASHP 
Chief Pharmacy Officer, SVP Shared Clinical Services
 

Mark holds a BS Biology from University of Tennessee at Martin, a BS Pharmacy from Auburn University, a Pharm.D from the University of Mississippi and a MBA from the Massey School of Business at Belmont University. Mark has served in committee and leadership roles in ASHP, TSHP, as well as serving as faculty for the ASHP Practice Leaders Section’s Manager’s Bootcamp and Leaders Conference and serving as a past director at large for the ASHP Section of Pharmacy Practice Leaders. He is currently serving on the Vizient Pharmacy Executives and Business of the Pharmacy Enterprise committees.

Mark has served in staff, clinical, consultative and management roles in health system pharmacy during his career.

Mark’s practice interests include pharmacy management, technology, medication safety, and clinical practice management.

 

Halden VanCleave Pharm.D, MS, BCPS
Manager, Clinical Services

Halden completed a 2-year Health-System Pharmacy Administration Residency at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. He earned his BS from Lipscomb University, PharmD from the University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy, and a Master of Science in Health-System Pharmacy Administration from The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy. Prior to coming to Vanderbilt, he served as a Clinical Operations Manager within the Department of Pharmacy at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Halden now leads the clinical pharmacists who cover the internal medicine, solid organ transplant and infectious disease service lines.

Halden’s practice interests include clinical pharmacy practice advancement, pharmacy leadership, medication safety, and quality improvement.

He precepts the Clinical Pharmacy Management and Front-Line Clinical Leadership rotation experience and serves as a mentor for the program.

Edward Woo, Pharm.D
Associate Director, Pharmacy Informatics

Ed holds a BS degree in Electrical Engineering and completed his BS in Pharmaceutical Sciences and a Pharm.D from the University of Mississippi.

Ed has held various management positions within Walgreens in Mississippi, Tennessee, and South Carolina.   Upon moving to Nashville, Ed helped Co-Found a healthcare data analytics startup company, Medalogix.  Ed began with Vanderbilt in 2015 as a HealthIT pharmacy analyst, then moved up to manager, and then Associate Director of Pharmacy Informatics. 

His practice interests include retail, specialty and health system informatics, data analytics, and clinical decision support.

Ed precepts the informatics management program experience.

 

Andrew Smith, Pharm.D, MBA, BCPS
Pharmacy Manager, Central Pharmacy

Andrew completed his Pharm.D at Lipscomb University and his MBA at Tennessee Technological University.

He started his pharmacy career at Vanderbilt upon graduation from Lipscomb and has served in various operational and leadership roles in the department. He currently represents VUMC on the EPIC medication steering board.

His interests include pharmacy operations, automation and technology, staff development, and pharmacy leadership.

Andrew co-precepts the inpatient operations and staffing experience.

 

Jared Gabbert, PharmD, MBA, BCPS
Pharmacy Manager, VMG Pharmacy

Jared holds a PharmD and Masters in Business Administration from the University of Kentucky. He completed the Vanderbilt University Medical Center PGY1/2 Health System Pharmacy Administration and Leadership (HSPAL) residency program. Upon completion of the HSPAL program, Jared transitioned into the role of Pharmacy Manager at the Vanderbilt One Hundred Oaks Pharmacy supporting retail, clinic, and investigational drug operations. In his current role, Jared manages several clinic pharmacies, oversees medication management in many of the VUMC clinics, and leads the clinical infusion pharmacist services. Jared serves as a member of the ASHP-Section of Pharmacy Practice Leaders Advisory Group on Business Development and System Integration.

His practice interests include ambulatory operations, advancement of pharmacy practice, process improvement, and educating pharmacy residents and students.

Jared precepts the clinic operations rotation experience, PGY-1 drug monograph projects, and serves as a mentor for the program.

 

Scott Thompson, Pharm.D
Pharmacy Manager, Oncology Clinical Pharmacy services

Scott obtained his Pharm.D from the University of Kentucky. 
His practice experiences include staff, clinical and pharmacy management roles, with a focus in oncology practice. Scott has facilitated pharmacy research services for the Oncology service line as well as supported informatics build and maintenance for this service line. He precepts pharmacy students for various colleges of pharmacy and supports residency and formulary work.

Scott co-precepts a pharmacy operations experience in the ambulatory/inpatient setting. 

 

Nick Hopkins, Pharm.D, BCSCP 
Pharmacy Manager – Oncology Pharmacy Operations

Nick is a graduate of the West Virginia University School of Pharmacy.

Nick assisted in the implementation of the Tennessee Oncology Pharmacists Association and currently serves as a Board Member. He is the recipient of the Vanderbilt Credo award.

Nick has practice experience in chain retail and health system pharmacy, pharmacy management and logistics, hazardous sterile compounding, pharmacy expansion, layout, and optimization.

Nick co-precepts a pharmacy operations experience in the ambulatory/inpatient setting. 

 

Kevin Scharfman, Pharm.D, MBA
Pharmacy Manager, OR and Procedural Services

Kevin holds a BS Biology from Nova Southeastern University, a Pharm.D from the University of Florida, and an MBA from Western Governors University. He completed the ASHP Pharmacy Leadership Academy.

Kevin’s practice experience includes retail pharmacy as well as staff and leadership roles in health system pharmacy. He has supported departmental initiatives in IV workflow, Malignant Hyperthermia response, automated dispensing cabinet implementation and has co authored papers on ERAS and malignant hyperthermia.

His practice interests include pharmacy practice support for perioperative and procedural practice, pain management, automation and technology and human resources management.

He co-precepts the inpatient operations experience.

 

Matt Felbinger, Pharm.D, BCPS, MBA (pending) 

Program Manager – Regional Hospital Pharmacy services; Interim Director – Vanderbilt Wilson County Hospital

Matt completed his Pharm.D at the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy, a PGY1 Residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and a PGY2 Critical Care Residency at Duke University where he also served as Chief Resident.

Matt’s practice experience includes staff and clinical pharmacist roles focusing on critical care and emergency medicine practice as well as pharmacy leadership and management practice.

Matt co-precepts the HSPAL Residency Program's Health System Administration experience. 

 

 

 

Phillip W. Stewart, DPh

Dr. Stewart received his Doctor of Pharmacy (BS Pharmacy) from University of Tennessee Health Science Center in 1980. Dr. Stewart has been a pharmacist starting in 1981 in pediatrics and returned in 1989 with clinical experience in both pediatric and adult pharmacy areas. His more recent clinical pharmacy experience has centered around informatics, where he has helped support all enterprise pharmacy areas and the systems that support care delivery.

In addition, he serves as Affiliate Faculty at several colleges of pharmacy and continues to serve as the Residency Program Director for the PGY2 Pharmacy Informatics residency at Vanderbilt, a role spanning over 10 years. Current roles include evidence-based medicine order sets, precepting PGY1, PGY2, pharmacy students along with Epic Willow duties and responsibilities. Professional interest involved cultivating an increased awareness of the Pharmacy Informatics role among local pharmacy students. Research Gate Profile
