External Scientific Advisory Board

The Tennessee CFAR Scientific Advisory Board provides high-level advice and guidance to the leadership of the Tennessee CFAR. 

 

External Scientific Advisory Board members include:

Barney Graham, MD, PhD (National Institutes of Health), Deputy Director of the Vaccine Research Center at NIAID/NIH, has extensive experience in HIV pathogenesis and vaccine development. He understands the institutional commitment and unique resources at Vanderbilt University and Meharry Medical College that form the basis of this CFAR. He chairs the External Scientific Advisory Board.

Richard Chaisson, MD (Johns Hopkins) is Director of the CFAR at Johns Hopkins. He has extensive experience in managing large research organizations and projects that bring together international collaborators and provide opportunities for development of new investigators while studying important strategies for understanding and controlling TB and HIV.

Michael Mugavero, MD, MHSc (University of Alabama at Birmingham) is expert in HIV medication adherence. His research focuses on all aspects of HIV health services utilization ranging from diagnosis and initial linkage to care to long-term clinical outcomes with particular emphasis on engagement in outpatient HIV treatment and health care disparities.
