Eric Sturos grew up in a small town surrounded by Lake Superior, in the most northern part of the Upper Peninsula in Michigan. For his undergraduate education, he attended Michigan Technological University to study mechanical engineering. During his senior year, he was part of a team of four students who designed, built, and tested an inexpensive leg brace for children in India. At the end of the project, he traveled across the world with his team to deliver the prototype and assist with the initial reproductions. Eric then attended Michigan State University’s College of Human medicine where he combined his passions in medicine with his personal and engineering experiences to choose Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation as his desired specialty. Outside of medicine, Eric enjoys fly-fishing, surfing, hiking, water skiing, hockey, and being around family and friends. He also had no choice but to love all winter sports since he has spent more than half of his life surrounded by snow in Michigan. In Nashville, Eric has loved being part of the inaugural class of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation residents at Vanderbilt and is enjoying the music city with his wife Mara and their labradoodle puppy Hensley!
