Founded in 1991, the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering’s mission is to recognize excellence in, and advocate for, the fields of medical and biological engineering in order to advance society. Andre Churchwell MD, was nominated for his “outstanding contributions to the interface of clinical cardiology and biomedical engineering for patients and as a mentor for trainees, educators and young investigators,” reads his nomination.

Jessica VanRegenmorter, Standardized Patient Educator in the Center for Experiential Learning and Assessment (CELA), recently presented at the annual Tennessee Simulation Alliance conference on an interprofessional simulation project that she developed collaboratively with a team of Vanderbilt educators.

Leora Horn, M.D., M.Sc., associate professor of Medicine and clinical director of the Thoracic Oncology Program at Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center (VICC), has received a 2015 Cancer Clinical Investigator Team Leadership Award (CCITLA) from the National Cancer Institute (NCI). The 2015 Gerald S. Gotterer Health Professions Education Research Day was held on October 13, 2015. Since 2009, this event has been held each year to highlight education research in the health professions ongoing in the Vanderbilt University Medical Center community. Organized by the Office of Health Sciences Education through the Educator Development Core with the goal to give an opportunity for all members of the education community to display their progress and success in health professions education innovation.
