Amy Fleming, MD, Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Vanderbilt, has been selected to be the new Vanderbilt University School of Medicine Associate Dean for Medical Student Affairs.  Dr. Fleming will succeed Dr.

Dr. Neil Osheroff's recent and upcoming educational activities: 1. He was visiting professor of Biochemistry and Genetics at St. George's University School of Medicine the week of Oct 12-18. He gave a curricular talk to their Continuing Medical Education Group and lectured to their medical class. 2. He will give a curricular talk at the Center for Innovation and Leadership in Education at the Georgetown University School of Medicine on Nov 4. 3. He was just appointed to the Finance Committee of the International Association of Medical Science Educators (IAMSE).

On October 8th, Heather Davidson, PhD, will be representing Vanderbilt at the Interprofessional Education Design Forum: Bridging Education and Practice at The American Institute of Architects Headquarters in Washington, DC.

Dr. Joseph Gigante was invited to present at the 2014 Regional Faculty and Health Care Educators Conference at Cincinnati Children's Hospital September 4th and 5th, 2014. The title of Dr. Gigante's Feedback workshop was "Tired of the Feedback Sandwich? Change your Diet with New Ways to Provide Effective and Efficient Feedback."

Charlene Dewey, MD, MEd., FACP and William Swiggart, MS, LPC/MHSP, Co-Directors for the Vanderbilt Center for Professional Health, attended the September 15 -17, 2014 AMA CMA BMA International Conference on Physician Health, sponsored by the British Medical Association, BMA House, London, UK. The theme of the conference was Milestones and Transitions – Maintaining the Balance.

Scott Rodgers, MD, Associate Dean for Medical Student Affairs has announced that he will be leaving VUSM on November 30th to become chair of the Department of Psychiatry at University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, MS. 

Anupam Kumar, a fourth year VUSM student, was selected for the Southern Group on Educational Affairs  (SGEA) 2014 Outstanding Presentation Award for Undergraduate Medical Education (UME).  His demonstration, Using a Mobile Web Application to Improve Feedback after Observed Medical Student Clinical Encounter, was peer evaluated as part of the Medical Education Scholarship Award (MESA) program during the conference and was very highly rated both for his presentation skills as well as for the content and design.
