Dean Rodgers Announces VUSM Departure

Scott Rodgers, MD, Associate Dean for Medical Student Affairs has announced that he will be leaving VUSM on November 30th to become chair of the Department of Psychiatry at University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, MS. 

Dean Rodgers has been a part of the medical student experience at Vanderbilt for over 14 years, first as psychiatry clerkship director and Master Clinical Teacher, and then during the past 10 years as the associate dean for medical students affairs. Dean Bonnie Miller, Senior Associate Dean for Health Sciences Education, said in an announcement, “Dean Rodgers has taken the Office of Student Affairs to new heights, creating Wellness, Careers in Medicine, and College Advisory programs that have become not only VUSM hallmarks, but also national exemplars. He has counseled hundreds of students through dilemmas and difficulties, and has celebrated with them through joyous life events, including nine great residency matches. We are truly grateful and indebted to him for his creativity and commitment.”

The process for identifying the next dean for students will be announced in early September.
