The Pediatric Trauma Injury Prevention Program encompasses all safety and injury prevention programs for Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt. The program's mission is to prevent and reduce injuries among children and promote safe behaviors and environments through education, programs and research. Our programs include hospital-based initiatives, Safe Kids of Cumberland Valley, Injury Free Coalition for Kids, the Child Passenger Safety Program and outreach and education resources. An Internship MUST be a requirement of your program in order to apply.
Role of the intern
Our internship provides practical work experience in a variety of professional capacities. The Trauma Injury Prevention Program is so broad in scope that we have the unique opportunity to host interns from many different majors, not just healthcare-related fields. Intern responsibilities will be individually tailored to match program requirements and interests of the student. Duties might include any of the following: planning, implementing and evaluating research-driven projects, assisting with outreach and hospital events, grant writing, research, marketing, communication, article writing, display design, media support, website maintenance, creating and delivering training presentations, data analysis, activity planning, social media, creating educational material, networking, attending meetings, and learning about local, state, and nationwide policies.
