Rick Chandra, MD

Rakesh (Rick) Chandra is Professor and Division Chief for Rhinology and Skull Base Surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN. He is holder of the Roland “Ron” Eavey, MD, SM Endowed Directorship in Leadership and Education in the Department of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery at Vanderbilt. He also Chairs the Department’s Promotion and Tenure Committee. Currently Dr. Chandra serves on the Executive Committee of the American Rhinologic Society as Secretary, and is the Editor-in-Chief for Ear Nose & Throat Journal. In 2018, he earned a Master’s Degree in Business in the Healthcare Management program at the Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management. Dr. Chandra completed his Fellowship in Rhinology and Skull Base Surgery in 2003 at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA and has also served on faculty at both Penn and Northwestern University in Chicago, IL.

Dr. Chandra’s clinical practice focuses on medical and surgical management advanced disease of the nasal cavity, paranasal sinuses, and the anterior cranial base, including tumors, polyps, complicated infections, inflammatory disease, cerebrospinal fluid leaks, and skull base reconstruction.  He has authored over 250 publications and directed multiple continuing medical education courses in these areas, and is actively engaged in clinical trials and translational research.
