VCLIC Presents: Intro to eStart Workshop – Sept. 14 from 9 am - 12 pm CT

The Vanderbilt Clinical Informatics Center (VCLIC) is back with its first workshop of this academic year! Please join VCLIC on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 to learn about Epic! This workshop will be co-led by Allison McCoy, PhD, and Aileen Wright, MD, MS. The first half of the course will focus on clinical workflows (led by VCLIC director Adam Wright, PhD), and the second half will focus on CDS and build capabilities in Epic (led by Dr. McCoy).

DBMI Catalyzing Informatics Innovation (CI2) Program Applications Due July 23, 2021

Applications for the 2021-2022 DBMI Catalyzing Informatics Innovation (CI2) program are now open. The CI2 program supports faculty in the development of early-stage, innovative and impactful informatics-based projects that have the potential to improve health, health care, or discovery. CI2 program awardees receive not only modest funding to pursue their proposed project, but they also join a cohort of CI2 Scholars who work closely with faculty and VUMC leadership. 

FAMIA 2021 Applications Now Open

The application period for candidates who wish to apply to be Fellows of AMIA opened on May 18, 2021, and will be active through July 19, 2021 at 11:59 pm ET.  FAMIA was established by the AMIA board in 2018 in order to recognize members who apply informatics skills and knowledge within their professional setting, who have demonstrated professional achievement and leadership, and who have a sustained commitment to the betterment of AMIA. 

Wael Alrifai & Chetan Aher Named Inaugural Winners of VCLIC's Physician Builder Award

Wael Alrifai, MD, MS, Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and Biomedical Informatics, and Chetan Aher, MD, Assistant Professor of Surgery, are the inaugural winners of the Physician Builder Award, sponsored by the Vanderbilt Clinical Informatics Center (VCLIC). They received trophies made from Lego building blocks and gift certificates.

Dr. Cathy Ivory has more than 20 years of experience as a perinatal staff nurse, and system-level nurse leader and has been a VUSN faculty member since 2012. In her current role at VUMC, Dr. Ivory facilitates the evidenced-based practice and nursing research activities for nurses throughout the enterprise and is a member of the executive nursing team.

Dr. Ivory is a recognized expert in perinatal nursing, nursing informatics and healthcare leadership and is a health services researcher. She is a past president of the Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) and is the current vice-chair of the American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA) Health Informatics Certification Commission and is on the Steering Committee for the Alliance for Nursing Informatics (ANI). She is also a member of the research council for the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).

Dr. Ivory's research interests focus on using data generated by nurses to demonstrate the unique contribution of nursing to outcomes. Clinical areas of interest include reducing maternal morbidity and mortality and health impacts of differences across populations.
