Survey Finds Patients Value Immediate Access to Test Results

A survey sent to more than 43,000 patients living in several states around the country finds that 96% of patients who use patient web portals prefer immediate online access to their clinical test results, notwithstanding the prospect of reviewing results before their physicians have a chance to review them. Led by researchers at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC), the survey was reported March 20 in JAMA Network Open.

Travis Osterman Named Associate Vice President for Research Informatics

Travis Osterman, DO, MS, assistant professor of Biomedical Informatics (DBMI), Hematology and Oncology and director of Cancer Clinical Informatics at Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center (VICC), has been appointed to a new role as Associate Vice President for Research Informatics at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Osterman will report to Peter Embí, MD, MS, Senior Vice President for Research and Innovation, and Neal Patel, MD, MPH, chief information officer for Health IT at VUMC.
