Hello and welcome to our unit!
I’m Donnie Polk, MSN, RN, Manager of the Neurosciences/Epilepsy, also known as Neuro/Epilepsy. We are located on the 6th Floor at Vanderbilt University Hospital.
The environment on our unit is fast-paced and collaborative, reflecting the complexity of our patients' conditions. We are dedicated to fostering a supportive culture where every team member feels empowered, valued, and well-equipped to deliver exceptional care. We care for adult patients aged 18 and older who are being treated for Ischemic and Hemorrhagic Stroke, TIA, Brain and Spinal Tumors, Cerebrovascular Intervention, Seizures, Altered Mental Status, Intractable Chronic Migraines, Subdural Hematomas, and Parkinson's.
Our patients are unique because they have specialized neurological needs.

We orient new nurses to our unit with a comprehensive 6-week, unit-specific orientation led by dedicated preceptors, ensuring a strong foundation for clinical success and confidence in practice.
