Oct 22, 2002: What is the role of Outreach and Education in the Poison Center?

One of the missions of the Poison Center is Outreach and Education.
Poisoning continues to be the third leading cause of accidental death among children.  Outreach and Education decrease the number of poisonings.  Josephine Darwin, Director of Community Outreach, has developed an "Always Ask First" Program, which targets elementary school children.  This program has been presented at schools throughout the 57 counties that we serve.  Requests for the program continue to increase.  Attached is the data regarding the number of presentations and brochures that have been disseminated over the past year.

As always, if there are any questions, call the MTPC.

I am interested in any questions that you would like answered in “Question of the Week.”  Please e-mail me with any suggestions at donna.seger@Vanderbilt.edu
