The Biomechanics Lab supports the research efforts of orthopedic surgeons, neurosurgeons, their residents, bone biologists, as well as both Chemical and Biomedical Engineering students and faculty. The Director of the Lab is Dr. Jeff Nyman, and the Lab Manager is Mr. Sasi Uppuganti. Located in the basement of Medical Center North near the US post office, the lab has the equipment and expertise to mechanical test cadaveric bone, rodent bone, implants (metals, ceramics, and polymers), and other musculoskeletal tissues. It also has histological equipment to prepare samples for sectioning, grinding, and polishing.
