Lakshmi Subramani, MD
Dr. Lakshmi “Shmi” Subramani was born in Bangalore, India but was raised in Madison, Alabama. She completed her undergraduate and medical degrees at the University of Alabama at Birmingham before completing her residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Ochsner Clinic Foundation in New Orleans, Louisiana. During her time there, she served as Administrative Chief Resident.
Following residency, Dr. Subramani joined Vanderbilt University Medical Center as a Clinical Instructor. She maintains a full-scope obstetrics and gynecology practice with particular clinical interests in maternal opioid use disorder, general prenatal care, and gynecologic surgery. She is also committed to medical education, with a particular interest in resident and medical student clinical teaching. She is passionate about providing compassionate, evidence-based care and empowering patients to make informed decisions about their health. Outside of medicine, Dr. Subramani enjoys cooking, gardening, yoga, listening to audiobooks, and exploring Nashville.
