Complex Family Planning

Complex Family Planning provides specialized, evidence-based care for patients experiencing pregnancy complications, pregnancy loss, and complex reproductive health conditions. Our fellowship-trained physicians are experts in pregnancy options counseling, management of first and second-trimester pregnancy loss, advanced contraception, and the care of medically complex pregnancies in the first and second trimesters.

We care for patients with a wide range of conditions, including molar pregnancy, tubal, cervical, and cesarean scar ectopic pregnancies, previable preterm rupture of membranes, previable placenta accreta spectrum, inevitable abortion, and other serious pregnancy complications. Depending on the condition, our team offers both medical and procedural treatment options.

In addition, we provide expert contraceptive care for patients with complex medical conditions and serve as a referral center for difficult contraceptive procedures, including removal of non-palpable contraceptive implants and management of mal-positioned or embedded intrauterine devices.

Our specialists work closely with colleagues in Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Gynecologic Oncology, Radiology, Anesthesiology, Genetics, and other medical and surgical subspecialties to provide comprehensive, individualized care for patients with complex reproductive health needs.

We understand that pregnancy complications and pregnancy loss can be overwhelming and difficult to navigate. Our team combines clinical expertise, compassion, and a thorough understanding of Tennessee law to help patients and referring providers understand available treatment options and coordinate timely, medically appropriate care. We provide evidence-based abortion care for patients whose pregnancies pose a threat to life or serious risk of substantial and irreversible impairment of a major bodily function, consistent with Tennessee law. We are committed to providing access to medically necessary reproductive health care and helping patients navigate complex medical circumstances with clarity, support, and respect.
