OB/GYN Core Clerkship

The OB-GYN Core Clerkship is a 6-week introductory course that involves a wide breadth of exposure to the discipline of obstetrics and gynecology.  The students spend approximately 2 weeks each on obstetrics, gynecology and in the outpatient setting.  Through these learning opportunities, they learn about both high risk and low risk obstetrics, genetics, ultrasound, colposcopy, urogynecology, gynecologic oncology and outpatient gynecology. Most students spend their entire 6 weeks at VUMC, but a few travel to Northcrest and Cool Springs to be involved in a community setting.  During the clerkship, all students are part of a faculty seminar group where written assignments and history and physicals are reviewed and patient cases are discussed on a weekly basis.
