Elise Boos, MD, MSc

Elise Boos grew up just outside of New Orleans, Louisiana. She graduated from Wofford College before serving as a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar in the Women and Gender Studies Department at Makerere University in Kampala, Uganda. She went on to earn her medical degree from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans and completed her Obstetrics and Gynecology residency at LSU New Orleans. She then completed a Complex Family Planning fellowship at Montefiore Medical Center and Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, where she also earned a Master of Clinical Research degree.

Dr. Boos joined Vanderbilt University Medical Center in 2020 and is an Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology specializing in Complex Family Planning. She serves as the Ryan Residency Program Director and chairs the Family Planning Quality Committee, helping ensure that evidence-based reproductive healthcare is delivered within state and federal law. Her clinical practice, research, teaching and advocacy focus on  reproductive health care.

In recent years, Dr. Boos has played an active role in efforts to clarify exceptions within Tennessee's abortion ban and promote consistent, evidence-based clinical care across the state. She currently serves as Advocacy Chair for Tennessee ACOG and is a member of the Tennessee Medical Association Legislative Committee. Her clinical practice includes general obstetrics and gynecology with a focus on complex family planning and trauma-informed care.

She lives in Nashville with her husband and two children. Outside of work, she enjoys swimming in waterfalls and dragging her children along mountain trails, embracing the joys of slow travel, celebrating her New Orleans roots and spending time with her family.
