Dr. Celeste Ojeda Hemingway was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. She moved to Nashville to start her education and has called the city home ever since. She completed her undergraduate degree (BS) in Chemistry and Molecular Biology and her medical doctor degrees at Vanderbilt University. Dr. Hemingway completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She is an ABOG-Certified Obstetrician-Gynecologist with an ABOG Focused Practice Designation in Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology.   She also serves as the co-director of the Women's Bleeding Disorder Clinic, a collaborative clinic with Pediatric Hematology.

In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Hemingway has dedicated part of her career to medical education. She joined the faculty as the assistant residency program director on completion of her training and served in that role for seven years. In 2013, she completed her masters of health professions education degree at Vanderbilt.  She served for nine years as the residency program director before assuming the role of vice chair of education for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in 2026. Dr. Hemingway currently serves on the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG) exam development team and as a board examiner for certification.
