The Stay Seat Smart Program at Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt addresses child safety seat misuse through education, community outreach and media awareness. Funded by General Motors, the Stay Seat Smart Program's goal is to improve knowledge and correct usage of child safety seats. In the state of Tennessee alone, the rate of car seat misuse may be as high as 82 percent. We can teach you about the best practices and state laws for child safety seat use and connect you with child passenger safety resources.

We currently offer a Free Child Passenger Safety Class virtually on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 7pm for caregivers. Register for a class!

Child Passenger Safety Classes are for caregivers who want to learn more about how to keep their child in a vehicle. The class is typically 40-50 minute presentation and a time for questions. Topics covered in the class include Tennessee Law requirements about child restraint, types of car seats, best practices regarding car seats, installation tips, and much more! We have classes geared towards English Language Learners as well!

Booster Seat Safety classes are for elementary students who want to learn more about how to stay safe while using a booster seat. We partner with local schools and non-profits to offer these classes to as many children as possible. It is a very interactive presentation that will allow students to be engaged throughout the whole presentation. The class is typically 25-30 minute presentation and a time for questions.
