HSR Core Services

Health Services Research Core

Mission

Positioned at the intersection of research, clinical operations, and institutional learning, the Health Services Research (HSR) Core seeks to expand Vanderbilt Health’s capacity to generate and apply evidence that improves care delivery, patient outcomes, system performance, and population health.

About the Core

Vanderbilt Health’s HSR Core exists to support rigorous, practice-relevant research by connecting investigators and health system leaders with interdisciplinary expertise, methods, and tools across multiple HSR domains. Serving as both a consultative resource and project facilitation hub, the Core supports study design, partner engagement, clinical and operational data analysis, implementation and value evaluation, and grant and manuscript development. In doing so, the Core seeks to translate clinical and operational questions into fundable research, rigorous evaluation, and actionable evidence to improve care and health outcomes for patients and populations.

Core Services Offered

The Core organizes services in a project lifecycle model (design & planning, data collection & management, analysis & interpretation, and dissemination & products) to support research at any stage and relies on knowledge, methodologies, and tools across several areas of expertise, including:

  • Qualitative Research
  • Implementation and Improvement Science
  • Healthcare Human Factors & Systems Design
  • Effective Health Communication

To learn more about the scope of HSR Core services and help determine how the Core can support your research, detailed descriptions and examples of our services and areas of expertise can be found here.

A Core staff member will review all requests and respond promptly to discuss next steps. For requests within scope, this typically begins with a brief consultation to better understand your team’s needs, including the specific services and expertise required, as well as your project budget and timeline. Once the Core’s scope of work is defined, a quote will be generated and agreed upon before any work is initiated.
