Can I get allergy shots at the Occupational Health Clinic? Yes! Your allergist will give your first shots in his/her office. When you have gotten to the maintenance dose of your medication, Occupational Health Clinic nurses can administer your shots.
What do I need to bring to the Occupational Health Clinic? When you are at maintenance dose, ask your allergist to complete an Standardized Allergy Desensitization Order for Vanderbilt Occupational Health Clinic order form which includes instructions for the nurses to give your medication. You will need to bring or have delivered both the order and the medication. Our nurses will keep your medication secure and will contact your allergist to refill the order as needed.
Do I have to make an appointment to get the shots? An appointment is not required, but plan to be in the clinic for 30 minutes after you have gotten the shot so you can be observed for any reaction.
What will I pay to have my allergy shots given? There is no charge. This service is provided to Vanderbilt faculty and staff by the Occupational Health Clinic.
How often do I need to have the shots? Your allergist will recommend the schedule you should follow. The Occupational Health Clinic will give the shots during regular business hours.
