Varicella Vaccine

Varicella (chickenpox) vaccine is a two-dose immunization series which provides immunity to chickenpox. For adults, this vaccine is recommended only for those who lack natural immunity.

Occupational Health provides Varicella vaccine at no charge for employees when needed to meet VUMC immunization compliance requirements whose immunity test shows they do not have immunity to varicella, or for those have begun the vaccine series and need a completion dose. Varicella vaccine is available outside of compliance requirements and will be charged to your personal insurance.

Because it must be stored frozen, the varicella vaccination is available only at the Occupational Health Clinic (OHC) during regular business hours and Thursdays from 8:00am – 11:30am at One Hundred Oaks. Please allow 15 minutes after you check in for us to obtain the frozen vaccine from the pharmacy.

OHC now offers Shingles vaccine (Shingrix). Individuals age 50 and older or with a weakened immune system can receive the series. Vaccine will be charged to your personal insurance at time of visit.
