The Global Surgery Program at Vanderbilt is a multidisciplinary initiative to create a collaborative exchange of ideas focused on harmonizing program elements already underway at Vanderbilt. Those elements include dissemination of in-country education and training opportunities for faculty and students, development of outcomes and evaluation research, and establishment of a central portal for communication to increase national and international visibility of Vanderbilt as a leader in Global Surgery.
2019 PRIME Workshop
The 2019 Preparing Residents for International Medical Experiences (PRIME) Workshop took place on Saturday, September 21 at the Center for Experiential Learning and Assessment (CELA). This workshop is led by faculty from multiple disciplines geared to surgery, anesthesia and OB residents participating in overseas electives, and uses simulation and guided discussion to cover relevant ethical, clinical, social and safety considerations for international work.
