Justin Turner, MD, PhD is a Professor and the V-TOPS Director in the Department of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery. He leads an active NIH-supported translational research program focused on the immunology of chronic rhinosinusitis and mechanisms of olfactory loss. His clinical practice is focused on management of inflammatory sinus disease and skull base neoplasms. The Vanderbilt Sinonasal Diseases Research Lab is directed by Dr. Turner and performs basic and translational research into chronic inflammatory airway diseases such as chronic rhinosinusitis, allergic rhinitis, and asthma, and investigates basic mechanisms of olfactory loss in humans. The lab has been awarded more than 5 million dollars in NIH funding. Members of the lab include faculty members in rhinology and endoscopic skull base surgery, residents, medical and undergraduate students, and clinical research coordinators.
