The PGY1 Pharmacy residency is a 12-month postgraduate program under candidate accreditation status by the American Society of Health System Pharmacists (ASHP). Our program began in 2019 with one residency position, that includes a variety of rotations at both Vanderbilt Wilson County Hospital and Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN. The PGY1 year is focused on establishing a core skill set in clinical practice, pharmacy operations and pharmacy leadership and management. More specifically, the program works on development of these core skills by focusing on patient care, advancing practice and improving patient care, teaching, education, and dissemination of knowledge. Experiences are offered in Administration, Critical Care, Medication Safety, Behavioral Health, Oncology, Internal Medicine and Informatics. Focused and personalized needs are also incorporated into resident’s program goals.
