Thank you for your interest in the Vanderbilt Health Clinical Informatics Fellowship. We welcome applicants who want to develop as physician leaders in applied, operational, and academically grounded clinical informatics.
Eligibility
The fellowship is open to physicians who are ABMS board certified or board eligible in a primary specialty at the time they begin training. Applicants should have a strong interest in improving healthcare through informatics, along with the curiosity, communication skills, and adaptability needed to work across clinical, operational, and technical teams.

Application process and match timeline
Applications to the Vanderbilt Health Clinical Informatics Fellowship are submitted through the Association of American Medical Colleges’ Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) as part of the July application cycle. The ERAS application window for Clinical Informatics programs generally opens in mid-July and closes in mid-October for fellowship positions beginning the following 01 Jul 2027. Applicants should confirm dates each year through ERAS and AMIA, as timelines may change.
- Application platform: Apply through ERAS. Applicants should review the ERAS site during the season because participating programs and program listings may be updated.
- Interview season: Virtual interviews are generally offered to selected candidates on designated dates from September through November.
- Match participation: Vanderbilt Health participates in the AMIA Clinical Informatics Fellowship Match, the joint matching process used by ACGME-accredited Clinical Informatics fellowship programs. The match typically occurs in mid-December. Match details and instructions are provided to interviewed candidates during recruitment.
- MSACI connection: Fellows complete much of their didactic coursework through Vanderbilt’s Master of Science in Applied Clinical Informatics (MSACI). Accepted fellows should expect to be integrated into MSACI coursework as part of fellowship training, subject to institutional enrollment processes.
