Vanderbilt Academy for Excellence in Education elects 26 new members

The Academy for Excellence in Education was established in November 2006. The founding membership was comprised of 44 distinguished medical educators. The Academy provides a forum to foster higher levels of participation and promote excellence and scholarship in the delivery of education to health professionals.

Academy of Excellence in Education elects new board members and officers

The Vanderbilt Academy of Excellence in Education (AEE) recently held elections, and as a result the group welcomed Mario Davidson, PhD, assistant professor of Biostatistics, and the 2022 Geoffrey David Chazen Faculty Award winner, and Regina Russell, PhD, assistant professor of Medical Education and Administration, to the Board. Both will serve a two-year term. Lindsay Pagano, MD was re-elected to serve another one-year term.

Reed Omary, MD, MS and Matthew Walker III, PhD honored the 2019 Geoffrey David Chazen Faculty Award

Reed Omary, MD, MS and Matthew Walker, PhD, were recipients of the Geoffrey David Chazen Award for "innovation in Medical Education" presented at the 2019 Academy for Excellence in Education Recognition Dinner held on April 29th. This annual award was established to recognize a faculty member and a student who have made special contributions to the educational programs of the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine through the development and implementation of effective innovation in educational approach.  

Don Moore, PhD, FSACME, named recipient of the 2018 Lillian B. Nanney Award for "Outstanding Service to the VUSM/VUMC Community of Educators"

The 2018 LIllian B. Nanney Award was presented to Don Moore, PhD, FSACME, at the Academy Annual Recognition Dinner on April 23.   Dr. Moore's  tireless leadership of Continuing Professional Development within the School of Medicine and Medical Center has greatly enriched our teaching and learning environment and has contributed in countless ways to our community of educators.

Heather Davidson, PhD, honored with 2018 Geoffrey David Chazen Award for faculty

Heather A. Davidson, PhD, received the 2018 Geoffrey David Chazen award at the Academy Annual Recognition Dinner on April 23. Dr. Davidson's leadership of the Vanderbilt Program for Interprofessional Learning has made a unique and important contribution to the learning community within the School of Medicine and the Medical Center.
