PI must complete the applicable transfer request form:
Non-USDA Animal Transfer Request Form - Mouse, Rat, Aquatic Species
USDA-Regulated Species Transfer Request Form - All USDA-regulated species
The DAC will review the health status prior to approving the transfer. IACUC/OAWA approval is required for all USDA transfers involving animals with prior surgeries.
Once the transfer has been approved, parasitology testing is performed when deemed necessary by the veterinarian. If the parasitology results are negative, the paperwork is processed, new cards generated, and all information is given to the responsible facility manager.
Requests for internal transfers are due by Friday at 4:30 PM in order to be completed the following Thursday by 4 PM.

Expiring protocols must have all animals transferred from the protocol prior to the expiration date. Protocols receiving animals via a transfer request must be active and must contain a sufficient number of available animals.

The approved transportation routes for transporting animals between DAC managed animal facilities and laboratories are listed in IACUC Administrative SOP - ADM.07 Procedures for the Transport of Animals at Vanderbilt.
Please note that all on-campus transport that requires a vehicle must be conducted by the DAC.
