Dr. Tegy Vadakkan received his PhD from the University of Houston, Texas and completed postdoctoral training at Baylor College of Medicine. Before coming to Vanderbilt in January of 2022, Tegy was a Lead Research Technologist at the Boston Children's Hospital at Harvard Medical School.


Briefly tell us about your role?

Senior Research Specialist with Cell Imaging and Shared Resource (VU-CISR), 704 Light Hall

 

How/When did you decide to become a scientist?  

I am curious, interested in solving problems, fixing things, etc.- naturally scientist.

 

What’s the most exciting part of what you do?

Dissemination of scientific knowledge, learning new imaging/image analysis techniques.

 

What kind of microscopes and/or imaging equipment have you worked with?

Widefield, Confocal, Multi-photon, OPT, Micro-CT, FIB-SEM.

 

What’s something you want people to know about what you do?

Microscopy and computational image analysis.

 

Who inspires you?

My parents and academic mentors!

 

When you were 5, what did you want to be when you grew up?

An artist
