Dr. Deppen is a clinical epidemiologist with experience in the evaluation of diagnostic tests for cancer with expertise in health services research and quality improvement. His research focuses on improving the diagnosis, treatment and outcomes of cancer and evaluating the efficacy of cancer treatments with specific interest in lung cancer. He recently completed his PhD in Epidemiology from Vanderbilt and is investigating how benign fungal diseases affect imaging for lung cancer screening and diagnosis. He is the lead author on a number of influential manuscripts with other members of the TREAT team including, Accuracy of FDG-PET to diagnose lung cancer in areas with infectious lung disease: a meta-analysis published in JAMA.
