So You Want To Be A Surgeon

If you are considering a surgical career, we are here to foster your interest. Feel free to approach any faculty member or resident to ask about our careers and our lives (we have lives, really!). Be sure to vocalize your interest before/during/after your clerkship. Be aggressive and get involved. Work hard on the wards (on all your rotations). Ask questions in the operating room and clinics.

For the female students in the group, the Association of Women Surgeons is a valuable resource. Student membership is open to all students in medical school with a career interest in surgery for a nominal fee of $25/year (if that is a hardship for anyone, contact Dr. Eskind). Supportive chat rooms and guides to perform at your best are some of the benefits to members.
