OR Internship

The Perioperative OR Nurse Internship is a 13-week course to teach registered nurses how to perform the circulating role in the operating room with an introduction to scrubbing skills. New graduate nurses or experienced RNs new to the OR may apply to the OR internship. Typically, classes begin each year in late February/early March, in July, and in October if needed. Positions are posted on the Vanderbilt Job Line several months prior to each class.

**If you are, or will be a new graduate nurse, who has obtained an Associate's Degree in Nursing from an NLN or CCNE accredited and state-approved program, and you have at least one year of half-time employment in the VUMC OR, you may apply to the Perioperative Nurse Internship. You will follow the same application process as a new graduate nurse, including meeting the application deadline. **

We may offer an Accelerated OR Internship in the Fall for experienced RNs only. The program length is 10 weeks. Candidates must have a minimum of two years nursing experience, preferably in ICU or Med Surg. The class size for accelerated cohorts is between four and eight.
