Elizabeth Card, MSN, RN,  APRN, FNP-BC, CPAN, CCRP, FASPAN  

Elizabeth Card joined VUMC in 1994, and the Office of Nursing Research in 2014. She is an experienced clinical nurse, nurse practitioner, nurse leader and nurse researcher. Elizabeth holds a graduate degree in nursing, family nurse practitioner, from Union University. Over the past 18 years she has worked primarily in the research setting as a study coordinator, sub investigator or principle investigator on over 125 clinical trials. Her research interests focus on perianesthesia nursing practice, emergence delirium and post-operative cognitive decline, advance practice professional development, health literacy/patient education, and workplace wellness and resiliency. She is a recipient of the American Society of PeriAnesthesia Nurses (ASPAN) Joanna Briggs Institute Comprehensive Systematic Reviewer training grant. She led creation of The Empowered Nurse, a peer review journal of innovative nursing research, and currently serves as the executive editor. Elizabeth is a fellow in ASPAN, has served as ASPAN’s director of research and currently as the ASPAN president.
