Cathy Ivory, PhD, RN-BC, RNC-OB, FAAN.


Cathy joined VUMC and the Office of EBP and Research in 2019 and is an adjunct faculty member at Vanderbilt University School of Nursing. Dr. Ivory is an experienced clinical nurse, nurse leader, nurse educator, nurse informatician, and nurse scientist. She holds a graduate degree in nursing administration and healthcare informatics from Georgia College & State University and a PhD in Nursing Science, with a focus on health services research, from Vanderbilt University. She is certified as an informatics nurse and in inpatient obstetric nursing. Her research interests focus on the use of data generated by nurses to demonstrate the value of nursing care to patient outcomes; she is especially interested in evidenced based maternity care. Cathy is a fellow in the American Academy of Nursing and a past-president of the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN).
