Certification Requirements

A vital member of the employee workforce is our medical assistants, particularly in the Vanderbilt Medical Group (VMG), and Children’s Hospital Outpatient Clinics (CHOC). 

If you are interested in employment at VUMC as a medical assistant, you must have a current certification through one of the following certifying organizations prior to applying:
• American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
• American Medical Technologists (AMT)
• National Association of Health Professional (NAHP)
• National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
• National Healthcare Association (NHA)
