Michael LaNasa, MD

MS Student, Applied Clinical Informatics

Fall 2026

I grew up in New Orleans, completed my undergraduate studies in Human Science with a minor in chemistry at Georgetown University. I then spent a year working as a post-baccalaureate at the NIH National Institute on Aging studying mechanisms in aging. I returned home for medical school at LSU New Orleans, followed by residency and a chief year at LSU Internal Medicine Baton Rouge. During residency, I was involved in the rollout and implementation of two large informatics projects around social determinants of health and mobility in hospitalized patients. I am currently a third year Pulmonary and Critical Care Fellow at Vanderbilt. I have been fortunate to work with Eddie Qian during my research time on several informatics projects both as research and in support of research. Moving forward, I hope to learn more about how informatics is utilized across health systems as well as gaining a better understand of how artificial intelligence can and is being integrated into clinical informatics.
