Mark Delacruz, MS

MS Student, Applied Clinical Informatics

Fall 2026

My experience in healthcare operations shapes my approach to informatics. I served for eleven years as a U.S. Navy Hospital Corpsman, delivering patient care in orthopedics, emergency medicine, field medicine, outpatient clinics, and operational military medicine for Marines and sailors. I currently work in health services operations and quality assurance, supporting government health programs and managing medical record request workflows. I hold a BS in Health Care Administration and Management from Cal State Long Beach and am completing an MS in Health Administration and Interprofessional Leadership at UCSF. These experiences have positioned me at the intersection of operations, care, and data within informatics. My expertise spans clinical informatics, operations, management, and policy. I lead PDSA improvement cycles for workflow initiatives, ensure HIPAA and federal compliance, and develop solutions using Excel, SQL, and Tableau. I am also expanding my skills in Python and R. With extensive experience in government health programs and medical record requests, I apply a quality assurance mindset to data processes. My goal is to use operational insights to develop predictive systems. Through the MSACI program, I hope to deepen my clinical and machine learning knowledge and further strengthen my leadership in informatics, especially in governance, approval, and large-scale adoption.
